Our Work

  • We worked with the Finnish Sustainability Panel, hosted by the Finnish Prime Minister’s Office. Our futures project included three phases:

    1. Futures imaginaries and the transition pathway.

    2. Futures voyage - a digital futures simulation with the Finnish Commission for Sustainable Development.

    3. Futures prototyping - open pop-up events for citizens to experience and interact with futures spaces and artefacts.

This project was done together with Falay Transition Design collective.

  • We developed a new high school programme around futures resiliences, sailing and nature. This programme is based on the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) framework.

Our partnering high school is in Sysmä, in the middle of the lake district of Päijänne.

The high school concept is developed together with Erika Kuittinen.

  • We worked with the Innovation Lab at the Latvian State Chancellery.

Our first collaboration included a in-person workshop with the Latvian innovation community. We shared learnings from design in government in Finland, and facilitated group work on Latvia 2050 and futures agency.

  • Anni was Conference Chair for International Design in Government Conference 2024 - Systems Change and Futures. With participants from 30 countries and 90 public sector organisations, this conference hosted talks, workshops, panels, discussion groups and dinners on topics such as systems change, futures, sustainability, ethics and behaviour.

  • "Tulevaisuuksien arki" was a creative afternoon around futures, technology and daily routines at the Museum of Technology. The initiative included a photography task to capture materials, objects and moments of daily lives. During the event we experimented with creative materials to explore future systems, routines and objects. We watched throught-provoking videos and practiced embodied methods such as Radio Taiso, futures dance and Bat dance (Aavanranta, 2024).

  • The Futures seminar brought together public servants and designers interested in the future of design in government. The seminar featured talks and checkpoints - mini-workshops around different foresight methods and exploring research findings. The seminar was a culmination of a 7 month futures process that Anni was leading as part of the Finnish government design community.

  • This was a 7 month foresight community process that involved a community of over 500 people, included 27 interviews, 10 workshops, 5 podcast episodes and facilitating the work of 8 futures coordinators. The aim of the process was to understand the changes around design in government and exploring possible and desirable futures for a greater impact for design in government.

  • This futures process explored the weak signals, change drivers and megatrends of employment and technology. Together with the City of Helsinki employment services personnel and leadership we created a future vision for employment in City of Helsinki in 2030. The vision included principles, vision descriptions and futures stories, scenario evaluation, and a roadmap.

  • This was a key project in the City of Helsinki digital transformation strategy. We built a design and date led programme around designing futures, behaviour change and end-to-end services for life-events. Our role was to co-lead and launch the project during its first year.

Let’s explore futures together!
